What Is CT Contrast Injector ?
An injector on a CT scanner is a device used to administer contrast agents (also known as contrast media) into the patient’s bloodstream during a CT scan. Contrast agents are substances that help to improve the visibility of blood vessels and other structures within the body that may be difficult to see on a CT scan.
The injector is typically a computer-controlled device that allows for the precise and controlled administration of contrast agents. It works by delivering the contrast agent through a small tube (catheter) that is inserted into a vein in the patient’s arm or hand. The injector can be programmed to deliver the contrast agent at a specific rate and volume, which ensures that the agent is administered consistently and evenly throughout the scan.
The use of an injector is especially important in studies that require the use of high volumes of contrast agents or when it is important to visualize blood vessels or other structures in great detail. By administering the contrast agent in a controlled manner, the injector helps to ensure that the CT images are of the highest possible quality, and that any abnormalities or diseases are accurately diagnosed.

Types of CT scan injector.
There are several types of CT scan injectors that are commonly used in medical imaging. Here are a few examples:-
A) Single Head Injector:- This type of injector has a single syringe and is capable of injecting a single contrast agent into the patient’s bloodstream. These injectors are usually used for routine CT imaging studies.

B) Dual Head Injector:- This type of injector has two syringes and can inject two different contrast agents into the patient’s bloodstream at the same time. Dual head injectors are typically used in more advanced CT studies, such as studies of the heart or brain.

C) Syringeless Injector:- This type of injector uses a system of pumps and valves to deliver contrast media directly from the contrast media container to the patient’s vein. These injectors are often preferred by healthcare professionals due to the reduced risk of contamination and the convenience of not having to replace syringes between patients.

D) Power Injector:- This type of injector uses a high-pressure system to deliver contrast agents into the patient’s bloodstream. Power injectors can be programmed to deliver contrast agents at precise rates and volumes, and are often used for advanced CT studies that require high volumes of contrast agents.
E) Handheld Injector:- This type of injector is a handheld device that can be operated manually by the radiologic technologist. Handheld injectors are often used for portable CT scanners, as they are lightweight and easy to transport.
