Linear attenuation coefficient of x-ray.
The fraction intensity of radiation or x rays removed from
the mono-energetic beam of x rays per unit thickness of
material of material is known as linear attenuation
coefficient. It unit is per centimeter ( cm-1).
The number of photons removed from the beam passing
through a small thickness of material is given as
n = u N x
where n= no. of photons removed
u = linear attenuation coefficient.
x = small thickness.
